Bath upends North Canton Hoover

NORTH CANTON - Bath's Wildkittens drove to Canton and posted a 61-58 victory over host North Canton Hoover Monday in the North Canton Hoover Classic.

The Classic is not a tournament, in that each team plays two games against pre-named opponents and it's not based on winning or losing the first game.

Bath (8-0) will meet Cleveland Green tonight.

Stefanie Mauk led the Wildkittens with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Rachel Mauk added 15 points and two 3-pointers. Nicki Hopkins scored 12 points with three 3-pointers. Stephanie Sanders scored six points on two 3-pointers.

"We fought through adversity and a lot of foul trouble early to get the victory," Bath coach Greg Mauk said. "People stepped up when we had foul trouble. We had three players, including Stefanie Mauk get two fouls in the first half. We got good minutes from Rachel Dackin and Emily Mauk. ... And Stephanie Sanders hit two huge threes for us."

Bath led 28-18 at the half and 41-39 after three quarters.

Elyssa Chovan paced North Canton Hoover with 17 points.

North Canton Hoover is 6-2.

 

 

 

Devon Keysor had 11 points for Spencerville. Brittney Kill had eight points and seven rebounds.

St. John's stands 8-1. Spencerville is 2-5.

 

 

 

Mel Wiess led Ridgemont with 11 points. Lynsey Harris and Gloria Basinger both scored 10.

Paige Guenther led Cory-Rawson with 24 points.

Basinger had nine rebounds for Ridgemont (1-7).

 

 

 

Wayne Trace outscored Fort Jennings 20-10 in the third quarter to take a 43-38 lead.

Katie Von Lehmden led the Musketeers with nine points. Kayla Knippen had eight rebounds to go with her six points.

 

 

 

Waynesfield is 6-2, while Jackson Center is 3-6.

 

 

 

 

 

Dre White added 13 points for Bath. Adam Leininger had 13 points and two 3-pointers.

Bath led 17-8 after the first quarter and 26-22 at the half.

 

 

 

Derek Gagle and Jake Green both scored 20 points for Celina. Gagle hit four 3-pointers. Darin Waterman scored 12 points with two 3-pointers.

Celina (4-1) will meet Columbus Bishop Ready in tonight's finals.

Celina outscored Bryan 21-5 in the second quarter to take a 32-14 lead at the half.

 

 

 

Adam Bair had six points and 12 rebounds for the Bulldogs.

 

Columbus Grove 67, Paulding 57:

Nate Schroeder scored 15 points with three 3-pointers and Luke Kohls added 13 points in Columbus Grove's victory over Paulding. Dylan Vogt added nine points.

 

Celina 55, Bryan 43:

Celina advanced to the finals of its own HALLaday Shootout with a victory over Bryan.

 

Bath 49, St. Marys 39:

Bath freshman Brad Davis scored 17 points with four 3-pointers to power the Wildcats past St. Marys.

Waynesfield 32, Jackson Center 29:

Waynesfield's Brooke Shaw had 12 points and pulled down 20 rebounds to trigger the Tigers past Jackson Center.

 

Wayne Trace 54, Fort Jennings 45:

Wayne Trace had a big third quarter and gradually pulled away from Fort Jennings.

 

Ridgemont 48, Cory-Rawson 46:

Ridgemont had three players score in double figures in a victory over Cory-Rawson.

 

Delphos St. John's 42, Spencerville 24:

Zefiryn Bryan scored 21 points to lift Delphos St. John's to a victory over Spencerville. The Blue Jays outscored Spencerville 15-8 in the second quarter to take a 22-10 lead at the half.
