Elida's McAdams commits to Akron
ELIDA -- Reggie McAdams has made his choice -- of schools and of sports.
The 6-foot, 5-inch senior has verbally committed to sign to play basketball at the University of Akron.
McAdams was named first-team All-Ohio in football last fall, then was second-team All-Ohio in basketball last winter.
He averaged 19.5 points a game last season as a junior and went over the 1,000-point mark for his career. He averaged 17 points a game as a sophomore and has been a starter for Elida since he was a freshman. He was one of the area’s top 3-point shooters with 66 of them last season.
He has been named Player of the Year for the last two years on The Lima News Dream team.
Akron is coached by Keith Dambrot, who was LeBron James’ coach at Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary High School during his freshman and sophomore seasons.
Akron won 23 games and advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament last season. The Zips have won 20 or more games the last six seasons.
