Prep roundup: Perry wins rivalry game with Waynesfield

Lima Senior moves to 5-0 in GBC

PERRY TOWNSHIP - A complete game from Shanique Southward and a fourth-quarter surge carried the Perry girls basketball team to a 42-35 win over Waynesfield on Thursday.

Southward had 15 points, 10 rebounds, five steals and four blocks for the Commodores (8-3, 3-1 Northwest Central Conference). She scored all seven of Perry's points in the third quarter.

Shelby Gilroy led Waynesfield with 17 points, seven coming in the third quarter as Waynesfield closed to a 27-27 tie entering the fourth. Gilroy made 7 of 12 free throws.

Lima Senior 60
Napoleon 35

After a shaky first quarter, Lima Senior blew open the game with a 16-4 edge in the second quarter. The Spartans stayed perfect in the Greater Buckeye Conference at 5-0, and 10-2 overall.

Tierra Washington scored 13 points for the visiting Spartans. While no one else reached double figures, nine other players scored. Jennifer Kemper had three 3-pointers of Lima Senior's nine 3s for her nine points.

Delphos St. John's 50
Marion Local 29

Zefiryn Bryan scored 23 points and pulled in nine rebounds to help host St. John's remain perfect in the Midwest Athletic Conference. The Blue Jays moved to 5-0 in the conference and 12-1 overall.

St. Joh'ns blew open the contest with a 16-8 edge in the second quarter, good enough for a 27-16 halftime lead.

Victoria Recker added 10 points, with three 3-pointers, for St. John's.

Marion Local fell to 4-8 overall and 1-4 in the MAC.

Crestview 72
Allen East 16

Another balanced scorebook led Crestview to yet another win. Kelsey Nedderman led the way with 14 points, followed closely by Jo Thompson (12 points), Melissa Eickholt (11) and Carly Lichtensteiger (10).

Thompson had nine boards as the Knights improved to 10-0.

Only three players scored for visiting Allen East (2-10), led by 10 from Emma Hefner.

Lima Central Cath. 45
Paulding 36

Lima Central Catholic pulled out to a 30-19 lead and held on through the second half for the conference win. The Thunderbirds improved to 7-5 overall and 2-2 in the Northwest Conference.

JoJo Krieg had 11 points, with three 3-pointers, and five rebounds. Liz DePalma scored a team-high 16 points while Danielle Taflinger added four points and six assists.

Cassie Kauser scored 20 points for Paulding (3-9, 2-3 NWC).

New Bremen 51
St. Henry 23

Jackie Dabbelt scored 14 points and LeAnn Topp added 10 more for host New Bremen. Stacy Timmerman had nine points and six rebounds.

St. Henry managed just two points in the third quarter.

Minster 31, Fort Recovery 28

Minster scored only six points in the third quarter, but it wasn't that bad as the Wildcats held Fort Recovery scoreless. Minster was led by Austi Weitzel's seven points. Fort Recovery got 10 points from Chelsea Leuthold.

Elida 47
Ottawa-Glandorf 36

Trailing 26-16 at halftime, Ottawa-Glandorf rallied with an 11-4 third quarter. But their efforts were for naught as Elida held on the for the WBL win. Tara Wehri of O-G scored four of her team-high 11 points in the third.

Kylie Prince led Elida with 15 points, including three 3-pointers in the first quarter. Chelsy Simpson had 11 points, with three 3s of her own. The Bulldogs converted 11 of 14 free throws in the fourth quarter.

Bath 73, Kenton 32

There wasn't much Kenton could do, except hold on and hope for the best. Bath raced out to a 29-6 lead after the first quarter and pushed on to a large WBL win. The Wildkittens (13-0, 4-0 WBL) led 64-24 after three quarters.

Bath made 10 3-pointers, three from both Rachel Mauk (20 points) and McKenzie Snoke (11). Stefanie Mauk added 14 points, five rebounds and four assists.

McKenzie Butterman had 11 points for Kenton.

McComb 45, Cory-Rawson 36

Cory-Rawson trailed by just one after three quarters, but after the Hornets fell short after scoring just six points in the fourth. The Hornets fell to 1-11 and 0-6 in the Blanchard Valley Conference.

Versailles 46, Coldwater 31

Versailles outscored the host Cavaliers 11-2 in the second quarter to take home the MAC win. Emily Frey led Versailles with 15 points.

Haley Stucke scored 7 points for Coldwater.

USV 56, Ridgemont 23

Kate Hicks scored 15 points and Whitney Carroll added 10 as Upper Scioto Valley took the easy win. The Rams improved to 8-5, thanks in large part to a 22-4 third quarter.

Paige Guenther scored 15 points for the Golden Gophers.

Lincolnview 55, Ada 40

Lincolnview won for just the second time this year, and first in the NWC, behind 16 points from Morgan Miller. Also in double figures were Shelby Osborne (15 points) and Brittany Katalenas (12).

Morgan Dumbaugh led Ada with 16 points.

Celina 65, Shawnee 51

Candra Francis hit three 3-pointers in the second quarter as Celina blew open a close game with a 21-12 edge. Francis finished with 24 points and five 3s. Teammates Cenzie Yoder added 19 points and Gina Everman another 11.

Megan Ream scored 18 points for Shawnee. The Indians were 9 of 15 at the free throw line, while Celina made 14 of 17.

Pandora-Gilboa 48
Leipsic 40

Taylor Hermiller (13 points, four assists) and Stephanie Recker (11 points) led Pandora-Gilboa to the Blanchard Valley Conference win. The Rockets are 9-2 overall and 4-1 in conference.

Chelsea Gerten scored 12 points for Leipsic (8-3, 4-2 BVC).

Continental 67
Fort Jennings 59

Four players scored in double figures for the Putnam County League-leading Pirates - Brooke Tegenkamp (14 points), Jessica Brown (13), Janelle Doenges (11) and Rachelle Ford (10).

Erin Weisenburger had nine points and 10 rebounds for Continental (10-3, 4-0 PCL).

Katie Von Lehmden 20 points for the Musketeers (2-11, 0-4 PCL).

Wapakoneta 62, St. Marys 28

Wapakoneta led 20-6 after one quarter and easily won its 11th game in 12 tries. The Redskins moved to 3-1 in the WBL.

Heidi Schlegel scored 13 points for Wapakoneta. Emily Stevely added 12, Devon Golden another 12 and Christy Steinke 10.

St. Marys fell to 5-7 overall and 1-3 in conference play.

New Knoxville 40
Parkway 26

New Knoxville used a big fourth quarter to open up a large advantage in a MAC game. The Rangers outscored Parkway 11-4 in the fourth.

Casey Horstman had 14 points for New Knoxville, joined in double figures by Morgan Reineke (12 points) and Taylor Arnett (10).

Arlington 59
Hardin Northern 30

Chelsea Motter scored 15 points for Hardin Northern in its BVC loss. The Polar Bears fell to 2-9 overall and 1-5 in the conference. The Bears committed 23 turnovers and forced just six.

Wrestling

Bath 50, St. Marys 19

The Wildcats easily outgunned St. Marys for the Western Buckeye League win. Tommy Mault, Matt Hefner, Aaron Rumbaugh and Justin Ryan all won by pin. Zavier Meeks won by technical fall.
