UNOH women, men split games with Malone

LIMA - Ashley Jackson, Abbie Clifton and Tara Olberding all reached double figure scoring totals as the University of Northwestern Ohio women's basketball team beat Malone 73-60 on Wednesday.

Jackson led all scorers with 19 points, on 8 of 12 shooting. She also dished out seven assists and had four steals.

Clifton scored 16 points, on 8 of 11 shooting, with nine rebounds. Olberding totaled 13 points, making 3 of 5 from behind the 3-point line.

The Racers (2-1) took a 32-28 lead into halftime on the strength of a 12-7 run over the final 4 minutes, 36 seconds.

Malone (1-2) chopped into the lead over the first three minutes of the second, but a 12-0 burst from UNOH staked the Racers to a 48-33 advantage.

Malone 66, UNOH 61

Responding to a seven-point UNOH halftime lead, the Malone University men's basketball team ripped off a 16-6 run over the first 5 minutes, 38 seconds of the second half to take a non-league victory.

Josh Vorst led the Racers (2-3) with 16 points, adding four assists. Jason Sarno added 12 points and five steals, and Dustin Guthrie had 11 points, six rebounds. Kyle Gillette scored six points and grabbed 10 rebounds; UNOH held a 44-29 edge on the glass.

A jumper by Isaac Bowers trimmed the Malone lead to 57-56 with 3:45 to play, but the Pioneers (1-3) scored the next seven points to take over the game.

The Racers struggled to 37.1 percent field goal shooting. They also made only 9 of 19 free throws.
